Thursday 6th Oct – Area of a rectangle

LEARNING OBJECTIVE: To understand what is meant by area and to work out how to quickly find the area of a rectangle

SUCCESS CRITERIA: You will be able to explain what area is and be able to work out the area of any rectangle given its width and length. Some of you will also be able to work out a length (or width if you know the area.

STARTER: Square it Game on paper in Pairs. Use this Onscreen Version of the game to demonstrate the rules. ON the dotty paper provided divide into grids that are 7 dots by 7 dots. And play the game a few times with another student. If you think you can beat the computer. Come up and have a go in the IWB
